The staff at CityHealth is saddened to hear about the untimely passing of Oakland Fire Department Assistant Chief, Sean Laffan. Our hearts go out to the entire Laffan family.
“Sadly, overnight Oakland Fire Department Assistant Chief Sean Laffan died of an apparent heart attack.
Chief Laffan was on duty at City Hall yesterday when he collapsed. He was rushed to Summit Medical Center but despite the efforts of medical staff he died overnight.
Thank you to the members who responded last night to the hospital and assisted Chief Laffan’s family. Laffan’s son is a probationary Oakland firefighter and was on duty yesterday so was able to attend the hospital
This morning I passed on our collective condolences to the Oakland Fire Chief, members of her command staff and the Local 55 President.
Funeral services are pending. A procession is being organized for today and our Traffic Division members are engaged in that.
While many of us don’t know Chief Laffan his death does remind us of what’s important; our families and our colleagues.”
